Grok Bot is now 10x cheaper

Hey beautiful humans. Been playing around with Grok Bot this week, and built a pretty cool Claude skill that required me to scan every page of a book 😂. Stay tuned for that one, it's neat.

Grok Bot got about 10x cheaper

xAI launched Grok Bot the other week, and if you missed it, it's basically a really simple way to get AI agents doing work for you It comes with its own always-on computer in the cloud and a seamless mobile app.

It was a whopping $200/month just the other day. Now it's gone down to $20, and the usage is actually generous too.

My thoughts have changed a little bit after using it for a while, and I think it was hyped up a bit too much

I honestly think it's really cool, and it has features that harnesses like Claude and ChatGPT don't have: the always-on computer, and the way the bots can talk to each other and delegate tasks between them.

But it's basically a polished OpenClaw/Hermes clone. Nothing new, just a nice wrapper with a decent iOS app.

I'm starting to use it day to day for small tasks, but I'm still working in Claude Code for 90% of my work.

I actually think who this is really for is someone who isn't very technical with AI, or someone who wants a Hermes/OpenClaw setup but can't be bothered with the setup.

If you're already pretty far into Claude Code and Codex, I honestly think there's not much point switching.. I'd still recommend having a play with it.

I urge you to check it out. It's genuinely a good product, and a glimpse into what the future holds.

Claude's memory is now shared between chat and Cowork

On 25 August, Anthropic merged Claude's memory across chat and Cowork. Whatever you tell it in one now shows up in the other.

What's new is that the two sides finally share one brain instead of keeping separate notes on you. It's on by default, and it's on the free plan too.

So the business you explained to Claude in a chat on Monday is context Cowork already has on Thursday. You stop re-explaining yourself every time you open a new window.

It also saves things mid-conversation now, instead of waiting until the chat ends.

Go and look at what it's got on you

Settings → Memory → Topics. Every memory is a small file you can open, edit or delete

Yeah, pretty cool.

You can go in there, make sure your context is up to date, and add anything you need so you're not re-explaining your life.

Also this week...

Claude Cowork now has its own built-in browser → it opens a browser next to your chat and works through websites for you, filling in forms, pulling numbers off a dashboard, getting into a portal that doesn't connect to Claude directly. It's Claude's browser, not yours, so it can't touch your tabs or passwords. Desktop app only, rolling out on Pro, Max and Team.

ChatGPT can now log into your accounts and stay signed in → type your password into a secure form once, ChatGPT never sees it, and it keeps working through logged-in tasks like appointments or insurance portals, even after you close your laptop.

The new Mac mini is here → small machine, big performance. Handles everyday stuff and AI work, up to 4x faster than the last one. Tim Cook posted a really cool launch video on X, worth checking out. Ships 22 September.

💡 Builder's notes

Gemini's new transcription model is impressive

Google launched Gemini 3.5 Transcribe on 26 August. It's their new dictation model, so voice-to-text, very similar to WhisperFlow.

Google called it their most precise speech-to-text model yet

The difference between normal voice dictation and this, is that it doesn't just write down your exact words. It uses reasoning and what's on your screen to give you the output you actually want.

So once you turn the option on, it knows what you're looking at while you're talking. I could be in an email and it can see my screen. It knows I'm sending an email, so when I'm done it formats it the way you'd normally send one.

This works through the Gemini desktop app. When you press the button to transcribe, with the reasoning toggle on, it sends your prompt plus a picture of your screen to Gemini in the background, and it works out what you want.

You can just ask it to write for you. Say "hey, write this to this person, write it in x format," and it'll do it.

Then go into Settings → Shortcuts, make sure you have a shortcut set up for "Speak to Window," then open "Speak to Window" and turn "use reasoning" on.

Transcribe any social media video in a couple of seconds

I don't know about you, but you may or may not have the /transcribe skill that was popular a couple of months ago when Claude Code took off.

The skill lets you download any social media post and get the transcript of what's being said, pretty quickly.

I use it every single day for YouTube summaries, and in combination with Apify to grab the transcripts of all my competitors and analyse what they're doing, their hook structure, and so on.

And I'm not gonna lie, I didn't realise how slow this skill was until I actually asked Claude, "hey, this skill is pretty slow, could we update it?"

Within five minutes, Claude downloaded a transcription model onto my laptop and made the skill 15x faster. So now I get the transcript back within a couple of seconds. Here it is for you.

It's Mac only, and completely free, and needs a 500MB AI model downloaded onto your laptop (included in install)

ChatGPT's $visualize → type $visualize after any answer with numbers in it and it turns it into something you can actually look at. A chart, a table, a map of the topic, instead of six paragraphs you have to read twice. Works in ChatGPT and in Codex.

Transitions.dev → a free collection of the most essential UI transitions for web apps. Copy, paste, done. Worth a look if your site feels a bit stiff.

A leaderboard for which AI models write the most slop → 22 models ranked on how much they sound like a chatbot instead of a person, and you can vote on the samples yourself.

Sam Altman admits he misjudged how fast AI would disrupt the economy → he talks about how the economy has a lot of inertia, and people keep working the way they always have. Very interesting, worth a watch.

The largest real-world robot training dataset → this company is attaching cameras to people's heads, filming daily tasks, and using it as training data for robots. Holy.
